Access control systems are electronic systems that allow only those personnel who have authority to enter into a building or portions of a building without creating an alarm event within the system. Some systems may be just one door and others may be hundreds of doors. Systems come in standalone versions, PC based software driven versions and browser based versions. They all have basically the same components, which consist of an electronic means of releasing a door that is being held in place by a magnetic lock or other electrified door hardware, a reader or keypad to release the door when an authorized user presents a card or enters the appropriate pass code, and a means to record all of the events and users who are passing through the door(s). There are very distinct differences between all of these systems and based on the needs of each customer, we would make recommendations as to which system we feel best suits each application.
Access control systems can be very simple or very complex in that they can be integrated into video surveillance systems and intrusion detection systems to enhance the functionality of the systems. They can contain data bases of users that include personal information and photos of each user as well as floor plans of the buildings that can track each user through the building as they pass through areas that are controlled by the access control system.
At Cunningham Security Systems, we offer several choices of access control systems and along with select vendors to assist us in the installation of the appropriate door hardware such as electric strikes, retractable hardware and magnetic door locks, we can design a system to meet your needs and your budget no matter how large or small.
