Who it’s for
- Switchers: You already have a compatible panel (e.g., Qolsys, many DSC/GE/Honeywell Vista models) and want to switch monitoring/providers without replacing everything.
- New setups: You want professional monitoring and modern app control from day one.
- Expanders: You’re adding smokes/CO, low-temp, water leak, or cameras to protect a Maine or New England home, cottage, or business.
How activation & takeovers work
- Check compatibility (we’ll confirm your panel/radio model and cellular coverage).
- Provision & program your account: users, zones, contacts, test signals.
- App sign-in & test: we walk you through Alarm.com app features and notifications.
Most routine activations are straightforward. Some older or locked systems may need a cellular module swap or firmware update—our team will tell you exactly what’s required before we begin.
Compatibility & equipment
We regularly activate and service Alarm.com–enabled systems, including Qolsys IQ Panel families, many DSC Panels, some Honeywell Vista 20P panels, and many models that use compatible radios. If your system isn’t compatible, we’ll outline the simplest upgrade path.

FAQs
Can I switch to Cunningham without replacing my panel?
Often, yes. Many Qolsys, DSC, Vista, and other legacy panels work with Alarm.com once provisioned properly. Some systems may need a radio module swap or firmware update—we’ll confirm before any work begins.
How long does activation take?
Simple activations can be completed quickly once we verify compatibility and contacts. If parts or a site visit are needed, we’ll outline the steps and timeline up front.
Will my existing sensors and keypads still work?
In most cases, your existing sensors remain as-is. If you’re changing technologies (e.g., new panel), we’ll advise what carries over and what’s best to upgrade.
Do I need Wi-Fi, cellular, or both?
Cellular is preferred for reliability; Wi-Fi or Ethernet can be added for redundancy and faster video. We’ll check carrier strength at your location.
Can I keep my current Alarm.com app login?
Usually, you’ll receive a fresh login tied to your new monitoring account. We’ll migrate users and notification settings so you’re ready on day one.
Can you add smoke/CO, low-temp, or water leak sensors?
Yes—these are common add-ons. Ask about low-temperature and leak detection for second homes and rentals.
Will I receive an insurance certificate?
Yes. If your insurer requests proof of monitored protection, we’ll issue a monitoring certificate upon activation.
What if my system is locked by my old provider?
We’ll attempt a standard takeover. If a lockout prevents it, we’ll quote the simplest, most cost-effective path forward.
